Welcome to the parish of St. Luke The Evangelist. We are blessed with a very active and vibrant parish family. You will find many things that are found in other parishes as well, but there are also many things in our parish that are quite different. I sincerely hope that you share our parish family's experience of being uplifted, spiritually fulfilled, and challenged.
Our parish operates upon a stewardship principle, found in the gospel and the tradition of the Church, which holds that no one is unimportant in the Body of Christ. All have a place and a mission, each one individually and all together in the overall mission that we share as the Church. We rely upon and share with one another in many ways. We realize that we are ALL called to serve the Lord and His people in our lives. This becomes our first priority in everything that we do. This is the basic concept that guides our parish activities - everyone doing his or her part. Our parish runs almost entirely on volunteer help and the offertory gifts that our people give week after week. It is a testimony to the deep faith of our people and the providence of God that in the over 30 years our parish has existed, it has done so entirely on the faith commitment of our people.
All are invited to enter into this rewarding experience of life in the community of God’s people. As a member of this parish, you will find that there are many opportunities to participate, since everything that happens at St. Luke depends entirely upon the support and cooperation of our people. We have a rich liturgy, well developed faith formation activities, support and help for many needs, prayer gatherings, fellowship, and fun. We reach out to the poor in our community and the city around us. We encourage and help families to prepare for celebration of the sacraments (i.e. baptisms, weddings, etc.). We welcome and evangelize newcomers. We give care and are concerned for those who are hurt, suffering an illness, or experiencing the death of a loved one. We simply share our faith and encourage one another through prayer.
I would most strongly encourage everyone to be not only a person in the pew, praying and singing, but also a participant in the full life of the parish through one of the multitude of ministries or services that are provided within our community of faith. YOU are needed! Your talents, abilities, material, and spiritual support are needed. Your presence is needed by the Lord Himself and His people. We welcome you to our faith community and look forward to getting to know you, and to the wonderful things that the Lord may choose to do through you.
