On January 22, 2013 our parish Building Committee met with Bob Fretz (Construction) and Steve Lucchesi (Architect). Mr. Lucchesi informed the Committee, that although it has been a struggle getting all the permits and proper paperwork ironed out and approved, we are finally at the end of this process and are ready to move forward. YEA! Mr. Fretz presented the group with a detailed breakdown of the project and guaranteed us a maximum price of $2,967,931 (not included in the price are any soft costs, i.e. telephone system, audio/visual, furnishings, special floor inlay, etc.)
On February 2nd the heavy machinery rolled back on to our site and began clearing the remaining piles of brush that still need to be hauled away. Although the gift of rain is greatly welcomed, it will hold up the progress of clearing the debris. Once the weather starts cooperating, there will be a significant amount of soil work and excavation to be done. Work will commence to scrape the top soil, bring in more dirt (to raise the level of the property to allow for proper drainage), and then begin to form the pads on which the concrete will be poured. This is a very exciting time for us! We have finally begun our journey to having our dream become a reality. Mr. Fretz has given us a 7 month target date for completion of our Phase 1 multipurpose building, weather and no extraneous circumstances permitting.
We want to thank all the people who have been instrumental in keeping our dream alive with their hard work and dedication. We also want to thank all of our parishioners that made their commitments to our Capital Campaign and who have been faithfully contributing to our fund.
