“Growing up my dad was a Baptist minister and believed in leaving the decision to us to be baptized. We were brought up reading the bible and along the way my dad converted to Catholic. I started going to another church and enrolled in RCIA but I felt that it was like ’mission impossible’ and did not feel I belonged there. When we moved into this area I first got my children’s sacraments & decided that it was my turn to go thru RCIA. I looked up St Luke’s website and saw where RCIA was starting that evening (I saw this as a sign). I felt so warm and welcomed in RCIA During the process I felt the devil was testing me as I had problems and obstacles but the Lord provided so many people who helped me and carried me through a difficult time. My husband and mother-in-law helped me so that I could attend the classes. Everything seemed to fall into place, from being able to get an annulment in a short time — which I was told could be a process that might take years— and having my marriage convalidated. My experience that night was awesome, better than I could every have imagined. My oldest daughter cried and my youngest one coached me on how to take communion and to be sure to say ‘amen’. As a family we joined the Feeding the Homeless, downtown and that was a wonderful experience. I hope to get involved and serve at St. Luke”
