Dear Parents,
We are looking forward to working with you as you prepare your child to receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist (Communion). Your child is to be register in the faith formation classes one year prior and the year the child is prepared for first Eucharist. During the second year the child and family are to attend the preparation for First Reconciliation (Confession).
You must register your child for sacrament preparation classes before they are able to attend the classes. Please check the church bulletin, church website or the letter that was mailed home for the registration deadline.
Your baptismal commitment to your child is a lifelong one. According to the code of Cannon Law, it is the responsibility of parents and those who take the place of parents to see that their children are correctly prepared and are nourished by the divine food; it is also for the church to be vigilant that any children who come to the Holy Banquet are prepared appropriately.
Please consider the importance of your baptismal commitment in ensuring that your child is present at all scheduled classes even if school or extracurricular activities conflict. Exceptions will be made only in extreme circumstances.
Parents AND children must attend all five classes to prepare for First Eucharist. Please mark your calendar for all four classes. Please check the church bulletin, church website or the letter that was sent home for dates and times.
First Eucharist will be celebrated at the regular weekend mass during beginning the Easter Season. Childcare will be provided for all sessions. Please inform us of your childcare needs when you register your child. The catechists and staff of St. Luke support your commitment in the sacramental preparation of your child.
Blessings on your families as you explore and learn more about our loving God.
