Welcome, to the Newest Member of the St. Luke Family! For many years our youth and adults suffered with an aging bus that had no AC, failing windows, and inadequate space. One of our parishioners, Robert Alvarez who is a school bus driver by trade, offered to do some research to see if he could find us a used bus because our bus could no longer pass inspection without major repairs. After much research, Robert was able to find us a bus that was in much better condition and 20 years younger than our current bus. We purchased the bus for $11,000 and a generous parishioner, who wants to remain anonymous, donated $5,000 towards the purchase! Prior to us purchasing the bus, it received a complete checkup and all repairs were completed and was given a clean bill of health. On Saturday, February 22, 2020, some of the men from our parish rolled up their sleeves, got on their hands and knees and cleaned the bus from top to bottom. Some of the seats were in need of repair. Robert did some research, and with some newly acquired DIY knowledge, the seats are now good as new! This bus has an under storage compartment area. The men cleaned it up and even laid down some artificial turf to protect any luggage and/or equipment. Thank you to Robert Alvarez, Felipe Mendoza Sr., our donor and all the wonderful men that helped us through this project. This is a true example of stewardship at work. They used their talents/knowledge & treasure to help us acquire the bus and gave of their time to help bring back the bus to its former glory. We will bless the bus soon and will record and post on Facebook! The bus will be parked in the back parking lot (locked for security purposes) so all of our parishioners can welcome the newest member of our parish family.
