George Bishop My family and I have been parishioners at St. Luke the Evangelist since 1976. After completing our military service, we settled in the South Belt area. One day, we were visited by Deacon Ralph Risk and his wife Janie, while they were going through our neighborhood letting everyone know about a new parish, St. Luke the Evangelist, and invited us to join. We started attending Mass at Thompson, while our building was being built. We affectionately called it St. Thompson. In those times, we as parishioners were invited to participate in the building process, to save money. My family and I participated in this endeavor as we helped paint some of the walls in the social hall. I was also part of the original capital campaign that allowed St. Luke to build our very first building at the Riverstone Ranch Campus – The Cenacle Learning Center.
I have been part of the St. Luke Community Federal Credit Union since 1984 and the Treasurer/Manager since 1988.
I was asked to help again with our Building The Kingdom of God Capital Campaign as Chair of the Building Committee. I did not hesitate to accept – I truly want to see our new building built as soon as possible.
