Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion (EMHC) are lay ministers who assist the regular ministers of the Eucharist (the ordained) distribute the bread and wine to the faithful at the Mass, as well as bring the Body of Christ to those in the hospital or confined to home. Our diocese requires that all EMHCs be at least 18 years old of age, have received the Sacrament of First Eucharist and Confirmation, and be in good standing with the Church. The Church also requires that EMHCs be trained in the basic theology of the Eucharist as well as the proper handling of the Body and Blood of Christ. If you have any questions about your eligibility for becoming an EMHC please contact the Liturgy Office or the pastor.
