We understand Adult Catechesis and its ability of enabling adults to grow in our personal relationships with God as we fulfill the primary purpose of adult life: to know, love, and serve God and our neighbors as ourselves, therefore, allowing all adults to freely make this contribution in response to God’s love. Adult Catechesis is the process of enabling us to enter into and to develop our own love relationship with God. This relationship is lived out in service to others and ourselves, therefore satisfying our need for a sacramental means of connecting with God.
As we attempt to attain the U.S. Bishops’ Vision for Adult Formation we will focus on:
The study of Scriptures to learn more about God and how to respond to the Word.
The study of the social teachings of the church and how to build a just society in which all God’s children can thrive.
Preparation for church liturgy and sacraments to better experience the growing fullness of a personal and community relationship with God.
Opportunities to relate faith to the personal, family, church, or social situation of one’s current life.
Spiritual formation experiences, such as new forms of talking with God, discerning God’s movement in one’s life, and following Christ’s example.
Systematic theological instruction to better understand one’s faith and to develop the skills to share it.
At the heart of our Adult Faith Formation Ministry lies the conviction that we can and must reach all of our existing and potential adult parishioners.
