Every year, the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, apart from parish ministry, extends the hands of ministry to hundreds of thousands of people that would otherwise not be ministered to through parish ministries in the DSF. Some of these ministries include prison and jails, hospitals, including the Chaplain Corps at the Houston Medical Center, the archdiocesan Office of the Tribunal, the Port of Houston Sea Farers Center, as well as assisting parishes in liturgical minister training, youth ministry, faith formation and much more.
Each year, every parish is assessed a goal that must be met to assist with these archdiocesan ministries. Last year, 2016, our parish goal was $135,000. Our parish had 650 families participated contributing $147,907.65. We surpassed our Goal! Thank you!
To all of you who participated in DSF 2016—thank you!
On DSF Weekend we will all have the opportunity to fill out a pledge envelope
and be a part of the great ministry of the
Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
This year, our parish goal is $135,000
Please plan ahead to be ready to add your support.
We often offer a sample financial formula for people to review –
5% of our finances to the parish
3% to the DSF
and 2% to other charities including second collections.
Please think and pray about how much your family can afford to participate. If we go over our goal, half of what is excess of our goal returns to the ministry needs of our parish.
Our parish is required to meet our goal, whether paid by us individually or paid from our general parish funds
at the end of the year.
Is our DSF contribution included in the 10% financial tithe to our parish?
We have traditionally used the following formula as a recommendation to parishioners. 5% of our total gross income should be tithed to the parish, 3% to DSF and 2% toward our second collections.
What is Tithing?
